The Milwaukee Road Hiawatha
On May 29, 1935, in the height of the depression, the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and
Pacific Railroad (The Milwaukee Road) initiated service between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago. The Hiawatha service featured streamlined Class A 4-4-2 steam locomotives made by the American Locomotive Company. This YesterdayBox includes memorabilia and historical items from the train, the company and the passengers as they enjoyed The Milwaukee Road Hiawatha when American railroading was at its zenith.
