The Boeing Stratocruiser

The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was first flown in 1947 and featured the first pressurized cabin and two passenger decks.  A derivative of the B-29 Superfortress, the 377 could carry up to 114 passengers and was an advanced and capable aircraft for its time.  Northwest Orient Airlines flew this aircraft over the “Great Northern Circle” route through Alaska to Japan

and China.  The Stratocruiser was retired when Northwest received its first jets in 1960.
